Evangelical Chapel in Ustroń-Dobka

About Evangelical Chapel in Ustroń-Dobka

Branch chapel of the Evangelical Augsburg parish in Ustroń, set up in a former school from 1903.

The Evangelical chapel in Ustroń-Dobka is housed in a former school building and belongs to the Evangelical Augsburg parish in Ustroń. Dobka is a part of Ustroń, and the chapel is a branch of the parish, in which services are held every Sunday and on holidays.

From a school to a chapel

The building was opened as a school on 9 October 1903. After the war it was extended, and the work was completed on 12 September 1948. Until 2000 it housed Public Primary School No. 4 in Ustroń-Dobka.

The parish bought the former school in 2010 and converted it into a branch chapel, which was consecrated on 11 June 2010. In 2018, during the celebration of the chapel's anniversary, an added bell tower was blessed.

The congregation

The congregation numbered 153 people in 2018 and 163 people in 2023. It is a small local branch, not a church of the character of a historic place of worship: what is interesting is above all the history of the building itself, which changed its purpose.

Nearby

About 3 km from the chapel is the Stanisław Hadyna Amphitheatre in Wisła, and a little over 5 km towards the centre of Ustroń the Jan Jarocki Ustroń Museum.
