A gondola lift from 1953 linking Olszówka in Bielsko-Biała with the summit of Szyndzielnia.
The Szyndzielnia gondola lift is the first gondola lift in Poland and the first cable car put into operation after the Second World War. The lower station lies in Olszówka, in Bielsko-Biała, at an altitude of 509.72 m above sea level, and the upper station on Szyndzielnia, at 958.85 m.
Construction began in 1950, and the equipment was supplied by the Austrian firm Brüder Girak. The lift started running on 21 December 1953 and on the very first day carried about two thousand passengers up the mountain.
The gondolas were replaced several times: in 1965 17 new ones appeared, in 1978 four-person ones, in 1995 six-person ones. In 1993 the lift was handed over to the municipality of Bielsko-Biała, and in 2000 it was taken over by the company ZIAD Bielsko-Biała SA. In 2016-2017 the firm Doppelmayr carried out a modernisation, after which the lift was opened on 11 March 2017.
The route is 1,810.76 m long and covers a height difference of 449.13 m. At first the ride took about 13 minutes, after 1995 6.25 minutes, and today a little over 6 minutes.
The lift has 32 gondolas, including one lounge cabin, plus two technical ones. The gondolas are six-person, the carrying capacity is 750 people per hour, and the maximum speed is 18 km/h.
The upper station lies on Szyndzielnia, where the PTTK Mountain Hut on Szyndzielnia stands. Further along the ridge lie Klimczok and the PTTK Mountain Hut on Klimczok, and in the area the Mountain Hut on Koźia Góra. At the foot of the slope there is also the Stok Dębowca Sledge Run. The lift is therefore a convenient start to a trip.
