A small park in Sosnowiec-Milowice from 1922, with a commemorative boulder, a playground and an outdoor gym.
Milowice Park is a small city park in the Milowice district of Sosnowiec, also called the Park with the Stone. It covers 1.7 ha and lies by Baczyńskiego and Szosowa streets.
The park was laid out in 1922 on farmland and wasteland, with a pond and two fountains. Destroyed during the Second World War, it was rebuilt around 1960. An amphitheatre with a concert shell, a dance platform, children's play gardens, an artificial pond with a small bridge and swings were created then, and the park was called the 22 July Park.
The name "with the Stone" comes from a commemorative boulder with inscriptions, put up in 2005 for the 900th anniversary of Milowice. Since 2015, through residents' projects submitted to the civic budget, the park has received an outdoor gym and a new playground, and the lamps, benches and paths have also been replaced.
The tree stand consists of 11 species of trees and shrubs, the oldest of which date from the beginnings of the park. The most numerous are the common horse chestnut, the black locust, the sycamore maple and the silver birch, with oaks and sycamores growing less often.
