Museum of cars and motorcycles in the building of a former compressor house on the grounds of the Queen Louise Mining Open-Air Museum in Zabrze.
The Museum of Vintage Vehicles is in Zabrze, on the grounds of the Queen Louise Mining Open-Air Museum, in the building of a former compressor house. It is run by the Silesian Automobile Club, based in Katowice.
The museum grew out of the activity of the Vintage Vehicles Circle, which was formed in 1971 in Zabrze at the Silesian Automobile Club. Most of the cars belong to a private collector, and some exhibits are deposits, so the set of vehicles on display changes. Beside it stands the Queen Louise Adit, so a visit is easy to combine with the same open-air museum grounds.
Among the cars and motorcycles are mentioned a Franklin of 1919, a Willys-Knight of 1929, a BMW 309 of 1934 and an Opel P4 of 1931 which appeared on the set of the film "Vabank". There is also a Daimler Majestic Major of 1966, used at the court of Queen Elizabeth II, a Miele military motorcycle of 1936 and a Lambretta scooter of 1958. From more recent times there are an FSO Polonez, a Fiat 126 Bis and a Volkswagen Beetle. They are complemented by car parts and accessories, advertisements and documents.
