A wooden pump room from 1862 in the spa of Goczałkowice-Zdrój, today a park pavilion.
The old pump room in Goczałkowice-Zdrój is a wooden spa pavilion from 1862, one of the oldest buildings of the spa. Today it serves as a park pavilion on Uzdrowiskowa Street.
In 1856 Prussian mining officials were searching for salt here and at a depth of about 616 metres struck a four-percent brine. The saltworks was judged unprofitable, and the site was sold in 1861. The new owners tested the water and the first treatment season began in June 1862, when 262 patients came. The pump room dates from the same year.
The heritage register describes the site as a wooden spa pavilion, entered in 1992 together with other 19th-century buildings of the spa. Treatment today uses sodium chloride brines with iodine and iron, as well as peat from Rudołtowice. The pump room is worth viewing together with the spa park in Goczałkowice-Zdrój.
