A modern Orthodox parish church in Częstochowa, designed by Michał Bałasz of Białystok.
The Church of the Częstochowa Icon of the Mother of God is an Orthodox parish church in Częstochowa, located at the junction of Kopernika and Śląska streets. It is a modern building, erected in a city associated above all with the Catholic Jasna Góra.
The design was made by the architect Michał Bałasz of Białystok. The foundation stone for the construction was blessed in 1998 by Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I. Inside there is a modern iconostasis.
The parish belongs to the Kraków deanery of the Łódź-Poznań diocese of the Polish Autocephalous Orthodox Church. Earlier the Orthodox community used the Church of Saints Cyril and Methodius on Plac Biegańskiego, which was taken over by Catholics after independence was regained in 1918.
The parish has a church shop and a catechetical point, and an Orthodox cemetery also belongs to it.
The church lies close to the centre of Częstochowa. In the area are the Częstochowa Museum and, a little further away, Jasna Góra.
