Sławików
About Palace and Park Complex in Sławików

The ruins of the three-storey palace of the von Eickstedt family in Sławików, with a landscape park and the ruins of a neo-Gothic chapel.

The palace in Sławików is today a permanent ruin, surrounded by a park of about six hectares. The village lies in Racibórz County, in the Rudnik municipality.

Owners and alterations

In 1795-1831 the estate belonged to the Eichendorff family, and the palace was then a single-storey building. In 1856-1865 it was extended by Ernest von Eickstedt in an eclectic style with neoclassical elements. The von Eickstedt family remained the owners until 1945. During fighting between the Wehrmacht and the Red Army the building was partly destroyed, and in the Polish People's Republic period it housed a state farm, after which the building fell into ruin. In 2005 it was taken over from a private investor by the Rudnik municipality.

What the palace looked like

The three-storey brick building stands on a rectangular plan and had a flat roof. The east facade has 19 bays with a five-bay projecting central section topped by a triangular pediment. On the garden side, in the west, there were cylindrical towers and an arcaded gallery with an orangery. The building is entered in the heritage register.

The park

In the park old trees, the ruin of a neo-Gothic chapel, a former granary and the ruins of an orangery survive. In the area there is also the Palace in Rudnik.
