A square in the centre of Żywiec with a roundabout and the Grunwald Monument, rebuilt in 2005.
Grunwaldzki Square lies in Żywiec's Śródmieście district, at the junction of Kościuszki, Handlowa, Podwale and Aleja Legionów streets. Today it is above all a roundabout with a small green square, and its character is defined by the monument with an eagle.
The name Grunwaldzki Square was given by a resolution of the Municipal National Council in the 1970s. In 2005 councillors handed over plots within the square for the construction of a roundabout at the junction of Kościuszki and Handlowa streets. A small green square and a car park were laid out by the roundabout. By a resolution of 2018 the roundabout was named after the Żywiec Habsburg Family.
On the square stands the Grunwald Monument with a sculpture of an eagle. It is a copy of an element of the 1910 monument, which stood in a similar place until 1939. The copy was cast in the 1980s and temporarily placed in front of the gatehouse of the "Ponar" factory on Jagiellońska Street. The rebuilt monument was unveiled on 11 November 2005.
