About Polish Radio Museum Room in Katowice

A museum at the Polish Radio Katowice station with radio sets, microphones and studio equipment, opened in 2009.

The Polish Radio Museum Room in Katowice is a small museum at the Polish Radio Katowice station, in the building at Jana Ligonia 29. It shows objects related to the history of radio broadcasting in Katowice.

Where the room came from

The room was opened on 27 July 2009, on the 130th anniversary of the birth of the patron of the Katowice station, Stanisław Ligoń. Over time the collection grew so much that a new room was needed. The attic of the building was therefore renovated, and the reopening took place on 8 May 2014.

What to see

The exhibits are radio sets, tape recorders, microphones, mixers and other radio studio equipment. There are also memorabilia of Stanisław Ligoń and of Katowice radio staff.
