A PTTK bacówka on the Krawcula meadow, at 1,038 m above sea level in the Żywiec Landscape Park, put into use in 1976.
The PTTK Bacówka on Krawcowy Wierch is a mountain hut on the Krawcula meadow, at an altitude of 1,038 m above sea level, in the Żywiec Landscape Park, in the municipality of Ujsoły. It was built in 1975-1976 and put into use on 4 December 1976. From the hut you can see a panorama of the Little Fatra and the south-western part of the Beskids.
Until the 1970s the area around Krawcowy Wierch was rarely visited by tourists. The bacówka (a shepherd's-hut-style mountain shelter) was built only then, on the initiative of a tourism activist, and the building belonged to the Bacówka Keepers' Club (Klub Bacówkarza). In 2000-2005 the hut was renovated. Today the bacówka is a frequent destination on the popular Beskid trail from Wielka Racza to Hala Rysianka.
Krawców Wierch is about 1,075 m above sea level and lies on the ridge between the Glinka and Bory Orawskie passes. The Polish-Slovak border and the Main European Watershed run along the ridge. Until 21 December 2007 there was a border crossing to Slovakia not far from the bacówka, on the Glinka pass. After both countries joined the Schengen Agreement it was closed down and the border can be crossed freely.
The summit itself is covered by forest, but below it spreads an impressive Krawcula meadow, on which the hut stands.
Three trails lead to the bacówka: yellow from Glinka (about 2 hours uphill), yellow from Trzy Kopce via Wilczy Groń (about 2.5 hours) and blue from Złatna (about 2.5 hours). Near the bacówka the Krawcula Night (Noc Krawculi) is held, a night hike to the hut. In the past the folklore event Wierchowe Granie i Górolskie Śpiewanie was also held here.
