Rycerka Górna 401, Rycerka Górna
About PTTK Mountain Hut at Przegibek

A PTTK mountain hut on the Przegibek pass in the Żywiec Beskids, at about 1,000 m above sea level, with trails to Rycerzowa and Wielka Racza.

The PTTK mountain hut at Przegibek stands on the Przegibek pass in Rycerka Górna, in the Żywiec Beskids. According to the hut's description, it lies at an altitude of 1,000 m above sea level, within the Żywiec Landscape Park, with views of Wielka and Mała Rycerzowa and Wielka and Mała Racza. The pass itself is 992 metres high.

Where the hut came from

The building was put up in 1923 as the private holiday house of Józef Pietrusiewicz of Żywiec, a co-founder of the ski section of the Babia Góra Branch of the Polish Tatra Society. In 1935 it was bought by the Bielsko Branch of the Polish Tatra Society, which set up a tourist shelter in it. Extension work was carried out from September 1937 to the end of the year, and from May 1938 the building took in tourists all year round.

During the war the hut was managed by the Beskidenverein, and the border with Slovakia was crossed in the area. In 1947 it was reopened after wartime damage. The building owes its present appearance to modernisations at the end of the 20th century, including a brick wing added in 1992-1996.

Trails and surroundings

Trails lead to the pass from Kolonia in Rycerka Górna (according to the description 1:15 h), from Rycerzowa (1:15 h) and from Wielka Racza along the border ridge (2:35 h). Trails also lead from the hut to the huts on Wielka Racza, Rycerzowa and Młada Hora. The walking times come from the description of the pass and may differ in practice.

The nearest huts in this range are the PTTK Bacówka on Rycerzowa and the PTTK Mountain Hut on Wielka Racza.

Nearby are the strict nature reserves Śrubita and Dziobaki. A quarter of an hour along the blue trail leads to Bendoszka Wielka with the Millennium Cross, and the Papal Trail runs through the pass. The pass is home to the protected serrated bellflower, which is rare in Poland.

Accommodation and winter

According to the description, the hut has 38 beds in rooms for 2, 4, 6 and 12 people, and a place for tents is marked out in front of the building. A buffet, a dining room and a snowshoe rental are available. About 300 metres away there is a drag ski lift. The number of beds and the services may have changed, so confirm them before you set out.
