A pump room in the spa district of Ustroń-Zawodzie, among Modernist sanatoria and pyramid-shaped holiday buildings on the slope of Równica.
The Pump Room in Ustroń is in Zawodzie, the spa district of the town on the slope of Równica, on Sanatoryjna street. Ustroń has spa town status, one of two in the Silesian Voivodeship.
In Zawodzie stand holiday centres, sanatoria, restaurants, a rheumatology and rehabilitation hospital and private rooms, as well as the pump room. Between 1967 and 1990, 17 Modernist holiday buildings were built here, popularly known as piramidowce (“pyramid buildings”). They were designed by Henryk Buszko, Aleksander Franta and Tadeusz Szewczyk. The whole is regarded as one of the most interesting urban planning and architectural projects carried out in Poland after the Second World War.
Nearby is the Forest Park of Surprises (Leśny Park Niespodzianek), and in the town the Jan Jarocki Ustroń Museum.
