A neighbourhood square on the Witosa Estate with paths, a playground and a historic wayside cross.
Rotmistrz Witold Pilecki Square lies on the Witosa Estate in Katowice, at the junction of Wincentego Witosa and Michała Ossowskiego streets. It is a neighbourhood green space with paths, not a place for a longer outing.
The square was named after Captain (rotmistrz) Witold Pilecki by a resolution of the Katowice City Council of 25 January 2009, which came into force on 31 March 2010. Originally the name was planned for the square in front of the Voivodeship Military Staff on Francuska Street.
The square is made up of paths and green areas. In its middle part there is a children's playground. Next to the playground stands a historic wayside cross with a figure of Jesus and the Mother of God. Also connected with the square's patron is an educational board, funded by the Katowice branch of the Institute of National Remembrance.
