A 15th-century church in Siewierz, rebuilt in the 17th and 18th centuries, surrounded by a wall with a bishops' gate.
St Matthias the Apostle's Church in Siewierz was built in the first half of the 15th century. Today it is Baroque-Neoclassical in character and entered in the heritage register. It is the parish church of the former town of the bishops of Kraków, lying not far from the Bishops' Castle.
The brick building was rebuilt twice by bishops: Piotr Gembicki in 1647-1657 and Kajetan Sołtyk in 1782-1784. Thanks to them it acquired its present Baroque-Neoclassical appearance.
The church is surrounded by a wall from the 18th century, in which the bishops' gate stands out. In the immediate vicinity are also the Church of St Barbara and St Valentine and the Room of Tradition and Old Culture.
