About University Park in Jastrzębie-Zdrój

A town park with a former sanatorium building from 1911 and two natural monuments.

University Park (Park Uniwersytecki) is a public town park in Jastrzębie-Zdrój, between 1 Maja and Karola Miarki streets. The oldest building on its grounds is the former Sanatorium of the Miners' Fraternity Company from 1911.

Trees and natural monuments

The park contains pedunculate and red oaks, maples, birches, larches and lime trees. Two pedunculate elms have been recognised as natural monuments: the older is about 180 years old with a circumference of 425 cm, the younger about 120 years old and 330 cm.

The former sanatorium building

The building stands at 1 Maja 61 in the Zdrój district. In 1998 an off-site faculty of the University of Silesia in Katowice began operating there, and in 2006 an off-site teaching centre of the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków was opened.

Nearby

The park belongs to the Zdrój district, which also has two smaller parks: Dąbrówka and Uniwersytecki. In the neighbourhood, about 400 m from here, is the Spa Park in Jastrzębie-Zdrój.
