A ski resort on the southern slope of Żar mountain in the Little Beskids, with a funicular and three runs.
The ski resort on Żar mountain is in Międzybrodzie Żywieckie, on the southern slope of the summit in the Little Beskids. The group of lifts operates alongside the funicular, and its operator is Polskie Koleje Linowe S.A.
The basis of the resort is a funicular 1,334 m long with an elevation gain of 304 m. The lower station is at about 454 m above sea level, the upper at about 758 m. The funicular carries up to 1,200 people per hour. Next to the upper station there is a drag lift (300 m long), and at the lower one a 51-metre belt lift for children.
Three ski runs lead alongside the funicular tracks. The red one, from the upper to the lower station, is 1,600 m long with an average gradient of 19 per cent. The blue one (300 m) runs along the drag lift, the green one (51 m) by the belt lift. The runs are lit, groomed, equipped with snow cannons and have sound systems. The resort has equipment hire, a service shop, a ski school and kindergarten, a restaurant at the upper station and a car park.
The funicular was built on the track of a former glider launch lift. Local pilots proposed moving the cars removed during the modernisation of the Gubałówka funicular. Construction began on 12 August 2003, and the opening with a blessing took place on 20 December 2003.
