A neo-Gothic brick church from 1907-1909 in Ruda Śląska-Wirek, designed by Ludwig Schneider of Wrocław.
The Church of St Lawrence and St Anthony in Wirek, a district of Ruda Śląska, is a neo-Gothic brick church with a single nave and a single tower. It was built in 1907-1909 and entered in the heritage register in 1999.
The design was made by Ludwig Schneider of Wrocław, and the bricklaying was supervised by master builder Neumann of Bytom. The foundation stone was blessed on 17 May 1908. The church was consecrated in 1918 by Cardinal Adolf Bertram. It is the seat of the parish of St Lawrence and St Anthony, which belongs to the Kochłowice deanery of the Archdiocese of Katowice.
The furnishings are in the neo-Gothic style, consistent with the body of the church. The stained glass was made in 1908 by Karl Lerch of Düsseldorf.
Within a few kilometres are the Museum of the History of People's Poland in Ruda Śląska and the water park Aquadrom. Further away, about six kilometres, stands the Guido Historic Coal Mine.
