A church from 1981-1986 on 82 concrete pillars, with metalwork by Bronisław Chromy.
The Church of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus at Traugutta 13 in Bielsko-Biała is a late Modernist church from the 1980s. It rises on 82 concrete pillars set in wells 12 metres deep.
The first church on this site was blessed in 1958 as a branch of the church of St Nicholas. A separate parish was established in 1977. Construction of the present church began on 27 January 1981 under Father Emil Mroczek. The Chapel of Mercy was blessed on 15 April 1984 by Bishop Herbert Bednorz, and the church was consecrated on 26 October 1986.
The design was made by Michał Kuczmiński, and the structure was handled by Leonard Dróżdż. The interior is divided into three parts: the church proper in the north, a chapel for small children in the middle and the Chapel of Mercy in the south. Among the most valuable elements of the furnishings are the Stations of the Cross and the metalwork by Bronisław Chromy.
