A brick water mill from 1914 in Tworków, still working, with part of its old equipment and a water wheel.
The mill in Tworków is a historic water mill from 1914 standing at Młyńska 7 in Racibórz County. The building, of clinker brick, still serves as a mill today and is sometimes opened to visitors.
Water mills had stood on this spot since 1703. The first was wooden and driven by a water wheel, and in time it was modernised. In 1914 it was replaced by a brick mill powered by a water turbine. Further changes of drive came in 1927, when a combustion engine was added, and in 1948, when an electric one was installed.
The mill worked for the needs of local residents, also during the Second World War. In the interwar period it ground about 1.5 tonnes of grain a day, and its equipment included a roller mill, millstones, a dust cylinder, a grain cleaner, a cylindrical sifter and a flour mixer. After the modernisation of 1991-1995 the milling capacity rose to about 3 tonnes a day. Part of the old equipment has survived, including the water wheel. The building is entered in the municipal register of monuments of the Krzyżanowice municipality.
