An eclectic hotel from 1895 in Gliwice, the former Schlesischer Hof, entered in the heritage register.
Hotel Diament at ul. Zwycięstwa 30 in Gliwice is an eclectic building from the end of the 19th century, entered in the heritage register. Originally it was called the Schlesischer Hof, that is the Silesian Court, and was one of the most exclusive hotels in the city. The building still serves as a hotel.
The building was erected in 1895 on a quadrilateral plan, as a four-storey building fitted into the corner of the former Wilhelmstrasse (today Zwycięstwa) and An der Klodnitz (today Kłodnicka). The hotel was opened in 1897 under the name Schlesischer Hof. It had nearly 30 rooms of a high standard. In 1899 the princely couple Charlotte and Bernhard of Saxe-Meiningen stayed here, and in 1905 electric lighting was installed. After 1945 the building was municipal property, and from the 1990s the owners changed; today it is part of the Hotele Diament chain. In 1998 a general renovation began, which restored, among other things, the original appearance of the façade.
The building represents eclecticism with a predominance of neo-Renaissance and neo-Baroque. The heritage register describes it as brick, and the entry dates from 28 October 1988.
Nearby stand Villa Caro and the Piast Castle. It is about half a kilometre to the Municipal Palm House.
