A reinforced concrete road bridge from 2002 over the Odra, on the site of a crossing destroyed in 1945 and 1997.
The Buków-Krzyżanowice bridge over the Odra links Buków in Wodzisław County with Krzyżanowice in Racibórz County. Voivodeship road no. 936 runs across it. The present reinforced concrete structure dates from 2002.
The first bridge was built in 1881 or 1890. In 1922-1939 the Odra marked the Polish-German border at this point. Towards the end of the war, on 30 March 1945, artillery fire hit an ammunition lorry crossing the steel three-span bridge. The explosion destroyed the crossing, which was rebuilt after the war. The Flood of the Millennium in 1997 destroyed it again, and a temporary bridge was opened on 6 January 1998.
The new bridge was opened in 2002. It was made of reinforced concrete using the balanced cantilever method, and it was the fourth bridge in Poland built this way.
From the bridge it is a short way to the palace in Krzyżanowice, less than 2 km further on.
