Olympians’ Park in Katowice

Olympians’ Park (Park Olimpijczyków) is a city park in the Szopienice-Burowiec district of Katowice, between Wypoczynkowa and 11 Listopada streets and Ogród Dworcowy square. It covers 2.81 ha and serves as a park of local importance.

Layout and facilities

The best-kept greenery is in the northern part of the park. The area of the former KS Roździeń pitch has also survived here, where the district’s Szopienice Days are held. The park’s name was given by a resolution of the Katowice City Council of 17 January 2000. In 2005 the park was rebuilt: the fences were renovated, the paths were paved with concrete blocks and equipment was installed in the playground.

Practical information

• Cycle route no. 5 runs through the park.
• The nearest sight is the Rolling Mill, that is, the Museum of Zinc Metallurgy, about half a kilometre away.
• The park is intended mainly for residents of the district: a walk, the playground and local events.
