A small neighbourhood park in Sosnowiec, 3.33 ha, with old poplars, on ulica Stefana Okrzei.
Park Środula Okrzei, also called the park on ulica Stefana Okrzei, is a small park in Sosnowiec with an area of 3.33 ha. It lies on the edge of the Środula estate, between ulica Okrzei and ulica Piotrkowska, which are among the oldest streets in the city.
The park is opposite the Schön palace and park complex, on the other side of the main railway line. In the 1970s and 1980s, on the railway side, it was bordered by the embankment of a former line from the Sosnowiec mine to the Ostatek shaft, which was dismantled in the 1990s. For a long time only this park was called Środula Park. Only when a second, newer park was created by ulica 3 Maja and ulica Zaruskiego did both begin to be marked the same way on maps.
The tree stand consists mainly of old poplars. The park's infrastructure is neglected. In 2014 the Środula district council tried to revitalise it and proposed naming the park after Ryszard Twardoch, a graphic artist born in Środula.
The closest site is Będzin Castle, about 3.4 km from here.
