A square in the former Racibórz Suburb of Wodzisław Śląski, named after a wooden church that stood here until 1826.
St Cross Square lies in the former Racibórz Suburb of Wodzisław Śląski and takes its name from a wooden church that stood here in the early modern period. Today it is a place that recalls the disappearance of that church, with a cross and an obelisk.
From 1525 to 1826 a wooden Church of the Holy Cross stood on this spot. In 2000 a cross and an obelisk commemorating the former church were put up. Earlier the square had other names: in 1810 Raciborskie Przedmieście (Racibórz Suburb), in German times Alt Loslau (Old Wodzisław), and in the interwar period Freedom Square.
In the period of the Polish People's Republic the square was called the Square of the 1st Armoured Brigade of the Czechoslovak Army, and an obelisk stood on it. In the 1990s it was moved to nearby Gladbeck Square.
