A small science centre with 28 interactive exhibits and a workshop room on the grounds of the Ignacy Historic Mine in Rybnik.
SOWA, that is the Zone of Discovery, Imagination and Activity (Strefa Odkrywania, Wyobraźni i Aktywności), is a small science centre on the grounds of the Ignacy Historic Mine in Rybnik. Children and young people can discover scientific phenomena for themselves here and develop their creativity. The venue belongs to a nationwide network of small science centres modelled on the Copernicus Science Centre in Warsaw.
The zone has 28 interactive exhibits, and next to it there is a room for experiments. Group workshops adapted to age are also held. Preschoolers and first-year pupils watch a puppet show and do simple experiments, classes 2-5 learn at workshops about the history of lighting, the formation of coal and sewing, and classes 6-8 about the mechanics of the Industrial Revolution and architecture. For everyone there are experiments in physics, chemistry, robotics and astronomy in the Astrołowcy programme.
