An artificial pond in the forest below Chrobacza Łąka in Kozy, a former manor trout farm, with a second retention pond beside it.
Wilczy Staw (Wolf Pond) is a small body of water in the forest in Kozy, on the northern foothills of Chrobacza Łąka in the Magurka Wilkowicka Group in the Little Beskids. It lies near the quarry in Kozy, and a wide forest track leads to it from the large car park below the quarry.
It is probably an artificial reservoir, made by people, and the date of its creation is not known. According to the description on the Kozy municipality's trail of curiosities, trout were bred in it for the local manor, so it was a trout farm. In fact there are two ponds close together here. The second, larger one is also artificial and was built for retention. The names are often confused: on the Geoportal map the larger reservoir is called Wilczy Staw, but locals use that name for the smaller one and call the larger one Nowy Wilczy Staw (New Wolf Pond).
Douglas firs grow in the area, a species of conifer that is exotic to the Carpathian forests.
