A forest cultural and nature reserve of 1.35 ha, protecting old oaks on the ramparts of an early medieval stronghold.
The Zamczysko nature reserve is a forest cultural and nature reserve in Wręczyca Wielka municipality in Kłobuck County. It lies in the valley of the Czarna Oksza, near the villages of Grodzisko and Wręczyca Mała, about 150 m north-west of provincial road no. 492.
The reserve was established on 27 April 1953. It covers 1.35 ha and is under strict protection, managed by the Kłobuck Forest District. It protects the pedunculate oaks growing on the defensive ramparts of the stronghold and of a Swedish army camp from the time of the Deluge. The trees are 190 to 210 years old, accompanied by European larch, beech, hornbeam, small-leaved lime, maple and fir.
In the undergrowth grow plants under strict species protection: the common houseleek relative (Jovibarba), the martagon lily and the umbellate star-of-Bethlehem.
The early medieval stronghold has a well-preserved, horseshoe-shaped outer rampart around a deep moat and an inner rampart of timber and earth construction, surrounding a round central yard of 0.3 ha. In 1966 research by Włodzimierz Błaszczyk revealed traces of buildings from the late phase of the early Middle Ages, as well as an iron bit, fragments of pottery and animal bones.
Not far away lies another reserve, the Dębowa Góra nature reserve.
