About Dolina Łańskiego Potoku Nature Reserve

A forest reserve in a stream valley in the Silesian Foothills, protecting riparian forests and amphibian breeding sites.

Dolina Łańskiego Potoku (the Łański Stream Valley) is a forest nature reserve in Grodziec, in Jasienica municipality. It covers the valley of the stream in the Silesian Foothills, right at the northern foot of the Silesian Beskids, and protects riparian forests.

What the reserve protects

The reserve was established by a ministerial regulation of 23 December 1998. It covers 47.07 ha (the founding act gave 46.89 ha), of which 7.05 ha is under strict protection and 40.02 ha under active protection. The protection covers riparian forest communities: the submontane ash-alder riparian forest and the montane riverside alder wood. There are many sites of green hellebore here, and the reserve also has breeding sites of many reptiles and amphibians. Among birds, the presence of the black stork is notable.

Nearby

The reserve lies not far from Grodziec Castle, and on the mountain side the nearest destination is Błatnia with its PTTK mountain hut. If you are planning a longer walk, the Zofia Kossak-Szatkowska Museum in Górki Wielkie is also in the area.
