The central square of Ruda Śląska in Nowy Bytom, rebuilt as a market square, with two fountains and St Paul's Church.
John Paul II Square is a square in Nowy Bytom, the central district of Ruda Śląska. It lies at the junction of Niedurnego and Ofiar Katynia streets and forms the centre of the district and of the city.
By the square are the seat of the city council and the largest church in Ruda Śląska, dedicated to St Paul, 64 metres tall. To the east of the square run Objazdowa Street and the railway tracks, and to the west stands the registry office.
In 2010 the rebuilding of the square into a market square was completed, and it became the central point of the city. There are two fountains on the square: a historic one, after renovation, and a new one in the middle part.
Three kilometres away lies the Museum of the History of the Polish People's Republic in Ruda Śląska, and in Świętochłowice the Museum of the Silesian Uprisings.
