The Market Square in Mstów on the Warta, roughly trapezoidal in layout, with a monument to Adam Mickiewicz and tenement houses from the late 19th century.
The Market Square (Rynek) in Mstów, also called Adam Mickiewicz Square, is the centre of the town on the Warta in Częstochowa County. Its shape is close to a trapezoid widening towards the south-east.
The Market Square has no regular layout of exit streets, because there is only one bridge crossing over the Warta here, and the river flows around the town in an arc from the north and west. Until 1811 a town hall stood on it, later pulled down. In 1879 a fire destroyed the buildings of the square, and their reconstruction lasted until the end of the 19th century. The most valuable tenement houses are in the southern part.
In one of the tenement houses of the southern frontage operates the Municipal Cultural Centre; a plaque dedicated to Tadeusz Kościuszko, set into the wall in 1917, hangs on it.
On the Market Square stands a monument to Adam Mickiewicz from 1955. During the revalorisation in 2007 it was moved towards the west and a town well was built. Chess tables, benches, lighting and additional greenery also appeared. From the Market Square it is close to the monastery in Mstów (about 0.5 km) and to the Jewish cemetery.
