A historic park from 1924-1930 in Zabrze, designed by the Berlin landscape architect Gustav Allinger.
The Municipal Park in Zabrze, popularly called Dubiel's Park (Park Dubiela), is a historic park from the 1920s, designed by the Berlin landscape architect Gustav Allinger. It lies in the Centrum Północ and Śródmieście districts. It is entered in the heritage register.
Construction began in 1924 between the Bytomka river and the Sztolniowy Canal, which was filled in in 1953-1956. The heritage register dates the park to 1924-1930. At first it was called “Stadt-Park”, that is the municipal park, or “Skagerrak-Park”, in memory of the Battle of Jutland. After the Second World War it was given the name of the Fallen Heroes, and the present name is the Municipal Park.
From the park it is easy to walk to the Nowy Theatre in Zabrze and the House of Music and Dance. About one and a half kilometres further lies the Municipal Botanical Garden, and a little over two kilometres the Guido Coal Mine.
