Brick pay hall of the Rozbark mine from 1911 in Bytom, entered in the heritage register, today home to the Rozbark Bytom Dance and Movement Theatre.
The former pay hall (cechownia) of the Rozbark coal mine at ul. Wojciecha Kilara 29 in Bytom is a brick building from 1911, entered in the heritage register. Today it houses the Rozbark Bytom Dance and Movement Theatre.
The pay hall was part of the mine's support buildings, the place where miners prepared to go down the shaft. The building was erected of brick in 1911 and entered in the heritage register in 2007. It was adapted as a theatre: the cultural institution of the city of Bytom was founded in 2013, and its seat is precisely the former pay hall.
The theatre develops the tradition of contemporary dance in Bytom, combining it with other theatrical and movement forms. Its repertoire is based on its own productions and on the graduation pieces of students of the dance theatre department of the Kraków Academy of Theatre Arts in Bytom. Performances have been given in many Polish cities and abroad, and in 2016 the theatre won two Golden Masks. It also runs classes for children, young people, adults and seniors, and the Integra group for people with disabilities.
From Rozbark it is a short distance to the Silesian Opera House in Bytom.
