A former municipal office from 1912 in Katowice-Podlesie, with a clock from 1913, a library and a traditions room.
The Podlesie Municipal Hall is the building of the former municipal office at Uniczowska 36 in Katowice. It was built in 1912 and served as an office until 1975, when Podlesie, together with the town of Kostuchna, was incorporated into Katowice. Today it is entered in the municipal register of historic monuments.
In 1913 a clock was started on the building, which works to this day. It comes from the factory of Carl Weiss in Głogów. In 1926 Robert Jarczyk became head of the municipality, and during his term the office was extended. In 1929 the national harvest festival of Poland was held in Podlesie, attended by President Ignacy Mościcki. During the war a German municipal administration operated here, and after it the municipal administration and then the administration of the gromada.
The building has three storeys above ground and one below. It houses a branch of the Municipal Public Library, the Council and Board of the Podlesie District and the folk ensemble Podlesianki. On the top floor the ensemble has set up a historical room with old furniture and household items, in which regional education lessons are held for pupils from the area. On the facade hang a plaque from 1988 commemorating the 750th anniversary of Podlesie Śląskie and a plaque dedicated to Robert Jarczyk, a member of the Sejm of the Second Polish Republic.
Not far away lies Zadole Park, and behind the building there is a children's playground.
