Tyskie Browarium

Tyskie Browarium is a museum and visitor centre on the grounds of the Tyskie Princely Breweries in Tychy. The museum has been operating since 2004, and the brewery, according to its official website, has produced beer continuously since 1629.

A museum in a historic building

The museum is located at Katowicka 9, on the brewery grounds, in the renovated building of a former Evangelical church from 1902. Until 2010 it was called the Tychy Brewing Museum, and today it operates as the Museum of the Tyskie Princely Breweries.

The collections include exhibits connected with the tradition and history of the breweries and collections of photographs, tankards, barrels, bottles and beer mats. According to the official website, the exhibition is toured on one's own. It is distinguished by a corridor built from 11,000 bottles of Tyskie beer and ten episodes from four centuries of the brewery's history.

Touring the brewery

The Tour Centre organises guided visits. The route leads through historic architecture and the modern brewery, and the story concerns the history of the production of Tyskie and Książęce beers and the bond between the local community and the brewery.

From June 2005 the museum ran an evening visit, "See the Brewery at Night", in which amateurs played figures from the brewery's history. In 2007 the programme was recognised as the best event of the year in the Złote Spinacze competition. The current visiting offer and dates are given on the brewery's website.

A place on the industrial monuments route

At the museum, on 19 October 2006, the Industrial Monuments Route of the Silesian Voivodeship was ceremonially opened. The opening thus took place in a site that itself belongs to the industrial heritage of the region.

Pub and tastings

On the grounds of the complex there is the Pub Pod Browarem, located in the former cellars, and the Tyskie Tasting School (Tyska Szkoła Degustacji), where courses in the sensory appreciation of beer are held. The venue also hires out rooms for events.

Nearby

In Tychy, not far from the brewery, within a few hundred metres, lie the Tychy City Museum and the Small Theatre. A little further, about two kilometres away, is the Church of St John the Baptist in Tychy, and three kilometres from the brewery the Wodny Park Tychy.
