Geo-Park Glinka is a recreation centre in Glinka near Ujsoły, in the Żywiec Beskids, set up in the pit of a former Magura sandstone quarry. There are two open-air pools, climbing walls, rope parks and a zip line.
The quarry in Glinka extracted Magura sandstone. The first records of it date from 1927, and its best period fell in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, when it was the largest works in the area. After extraction ended, a pit of more than 4 hectares was left.
The land development project was meant to remove the effects of the former extraction, fit the area into the landscape and give it recreational, tourist and cultural functions. Geo-Park was opened on 29 June 2014.
On the site there are two bodies of water under lifeguard supervision. The large swimming area is 110 m long and 30 m wide, and its depth ranges from 1.6 to about 2.5 m. The children's paddling pool measures 30 by 10 m and is 0.3 m deep.
The water lies among exposed rocks left from the former quarry, next to a forest. The operator recommends putting pool shoes on children, because the ground is uneven.
The two artificial climbing walls are 17 and 12 m high and stand in the open air. You can climb with top-rope and lead belaying, and instructors provide the equipment.
The rope park for adults has three difficulty levels and 37 obstacles, and the children's park has two levels and 12 obstacles. The zip line runs over the pit at a height of 30 m and is 220 m long. The operator describes it as the longest zip line in the region.
The site also has a children's playground, a beach volleyball court, shelters with barbecue space, a pizzeria and a room that can be hired for meetings.
