A large square next to Jasna Góra, the former square of the monastery settlement and a horse market, with a neo-Gothic church from 1906.
Wieluński Market Square (Rynek Wieluński) in Częstochowa is a large square in the Częstochówka-Parkitka district, right next to Jasna Góra. It resembles a junction of many roads more than a market square with townhouses.
The name comes from Wieluń, to which the square was linked by a road running to the north-west. It was the main square of the monastery settlement, weekly horse markets were held on it, and pilgrims' carts stopped there. The market was closed in 1979. The sides of the square measure 260, 250, 120 and 90 metres, and it is similar in size to the Main Square in Kraków.
On the northern side stands the neo-Gothic Church of Jesus Dying, from 1906. Earlier there was a chapel with an almshouse, described in 1786 and demolished in 1838. The first eastern frontage was demolished during the Second World War on the orders of the German authorities. During the building of the road bypassing Jasna Góra, a stream crossing the square was filled in.
