Things to do in Siedlec near Częstochowa: the Siedlec Desert, Padre Pio shrine, Bezlik rock with climbing routes and a small rock shelter.
This is Siedlec in the Janów municipality, in the Częstochowa county, in the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland. Its four places combine sand, limestone rocks and a place of pilgrimage.
The Siedlec Desert is a sandy area of 25 hectares in a former pit where sand was dug until the 1960s. It has a small pond called the “Oasis” and a board with a described panorama on the highest dune. The Shrine of St Padre Pio on Przeprośna Górka was built in 1994-2011 on an octagonal plan; it is the first shrine of this saint in Poland.
Bezlik is a limestone outlier with vertical walls up to 18 metres and eight climbing routes graded VI.1 to VI.4. Nearby, in the Hermit's Rock, lies the Wild Boar Rock Shelter, a small cave 9 m long with a chamber of 5 by 4 m. It is a cave, not a tourist hut.
Yes, eight routes were set here in 2011 with fixed protection: rings and abseil stations.
It covers 25 hectares in a former sand pit that was later planted with pine trees.
