What to see in Zwardoń? The Zwardoń Ski resort on Mały Rachowiec and two mountain huts in the Żywiec Beskids: Chata Pod Skalanką and Skalanka.
Zwardoń lies close to the state border and is a gateway to the Żywiec Beskids. The resort draws skiers in winter, and the huts will interest hikers looking for a place to stop in the mountains.
The Zwardoń Ski Resort is on the western slope of the hill Mały Rachowiec, at 840 metres above sea level. The main lift is a four-person chairlift, 860 metres long with a capacity of 2,400 people per hour, which opened on 27 December 2012. The run is artificially snowed.
The Chata Pod Skalanką Mountain Hut is a tourist hut at about 772 metres, with the address Zwardoń 211a. In November 2019 a plaque was unveiled beside it, dedicated to Lt Stanisław Kopik, nom de guerre “Zemsta”, and his soldiers from a National Armed Forces unit.
The Student Tourist Shelter “Skalanka” stands right next to it, below the peak of Skalanka in the border ridge south of the Zwardoń Pass. It is a wooden building, probably from around 1930, run as a students' hut and not as a commercial mountain lodge.
No. They are two separate huts standing side by side, so they are easy to confuse.
