The Szachownica Nature Reserve, created in 1978, covers 12.7 ha and protects the limestone Krzemienna Góra and the cave system of the same name, a bat hibernation site. It lies in the buffer zone of the Załęczański Landscape Park. Bukowa Góra is the smallest reserve in the Silesian Voivodeship: a strict forest reserve with acidic lowland beech forest and a karst spring, created on 5 May 1959, the only strict one within the park.
The Stawiska reserve near Parzymiechy was established on the same day and protects lowland oak-hornbeam forest, riparian woods and 85 monumental pedunculate oaks with trunk girths of 380 to 674 cm, aged from about 200 to 500 years. Entry to all three is free. Overviews of reserves and parks are on the pages parks and nature in Lipie and free attractions in Lipie.
