Podzamcze lies on the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland, in Zawiercie County. The four places cluster around the castle and Birów Hill.
The Ogrodzieniec Castle ruins rise on Zamkowa Hill, which reaches 515.5 m above sea level and tops the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland; the castle is part of the Eagles' Nests Trail and can be visited. The Birów Hill Stronghold is a reconstructed stronghold on a hill ringed by rock outcrops, open to visitors since 2018, with a display of archaeological finds.
The same hill holds the Rock Shelter in Góra Birów near Podzamcze (North), also known as Cave IV; it is a natural cave with four openings and an important archaeological site. The Shrine of Our Lady of the Rock by provincial road 790 grew up beside a limestone rock where, according to tradition, an image of the Virgin Mary appeared in 1818.
