Solo in Pogrzebień: a viewing tower overlooking the Beskids and Sudetes, a Neo-Renaissance palace and St Bartholomew's church. A calm walk on your own.
Pogrzebień lies in the Racibórz district, in the Kornowac municipality. The three stops are easy to combine into one short outing.
What to see in Pogrzebień on a walk alone?
The finest view is from the viewing tower, which stands on a hill at the southern end of the village, 291 metres above sea level, and opened in 2019. Its steel pyramid is close to twenty metres tall and has three platforms; from the top you can spot neighbouring villages and, far off, the Beskids, the Sudetes and the Jeseníky.
At 9 Brzezka Street the palace in Pogrzebień is a Neo-Renaissance residence modelled on an Italian villa and remodelled in 1885-1886. Salesian Sisters have lived there since 1946, so you can admire it only from outside. The Salesians also look after St Bartholomew’s Church, put up in 1851-1852 and extensively renovated after 1954.
