Churches and monasteries in Górki Wielkie include a Gothic church from the fifteenth century, a Franciscan monastery and a Lutheran church by a cemetery.
Three traditions meet in Górki Wielkie: a medieval Catholic parish, a young Franciscan monastery and a Lutheran congregation. All the churches are best explored alone, at a calm pace.
The Church of All Saints is a Gothic parish church from the 1400s on the right bank of the Brennica, at Pod Zebrzydkę 4. It is a registered monument, and because bats live in its attic, a Natura 2000 area covers it as well. The grave of Zofia Kossak is nearby, in the cemetery.
The Franciscan Monastery was built in 1990-1998 beside the manor where Zofia Kossak lived. A parish of St John Sarkandar operates at the monastery. The Church of the Apostle John has a completely different character: it is Lutheran, built in 1984 beside a cemetery bell tower from 1908. It stands in the Lutheran cemetery founded in 1858. The village's other addresses are gathered in things to do in Górki Wielkie; more sacred buildings of the region are the churches and monasteries in Silesia.
The animals took over the attic of the Gothic church, so the church grounds were included in the Natura 2000 network.
Yes. The church dedicated to the Apostle John serves the Evangelical Augsburg parish of Brenna-Górki and sits in a Lutheran graveyard.
