What to do alone in Sopotnia Wielka? Walk to the waterfall, climb Romanka and spend the night in the Rysianka hut or the AKT cabin.
The four places in the Żywiec Beskids can be spread over several days. Two of them offer overnight accommodation.
How do you plan a solo hike around Sopotnia Wielka?
A warm-up is the Waterfall in Sopotnia, ten metres high, in the village itself, right under the bridge; it is said to be the biggest waterfall in the Polish Beskids. Above the village stands the AKT Dobrodziej Hut with thirty places in shared rooms, and further up the PTTK Mountain Hut on Hala Rysianka, set at 1,290 m above sea level, which opened in 1937 and has fifty places.
Romanka (1,366 m above sea level) has several approach trails, and forest without views grows on the top, so the reward is the walk itself. Romanka tops the whole Lipowski Wierch and Romanka group.
