What to see in Włodowice? The ruins of a Baroque palace, the church of St Bartholomew from 1708 and the yellow Zamonit Trail, which partly crosses the Jura.

Włodowice lies in Zawiercie County, on the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland. It is a good stop for walkers: a few minutes cover the monuments in the middle of the village, and then you can head onto the trail.

Which monuments should you look at in Włodowice?

The Palace in Włodowice at Krakowska 24 is the ruin of a Baroque residence of the Warszycki family from the late 17th century. After fires in 1924 and 1956 and years of neglect it is unfit for use. The 1956 fire burned for six days, and the property belongs to the state treasury, so view it from the outside only.

The Church of St Bartholomew the Apostle is a brick single-nave building in the Polish Baroque style, with a square tower. The foundation stone was laid in 1701 and the church was consecrated in 1708. It was funded by Prelate Marian Kępski.

Where does the Zamonit Trail lead?

The Zamonit Trail is a yellow waymarked hiking route run by the PTTK, 75 kilometres long according to the tourist map. It begins in Poraj and partly runs across the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland. The name combines the Polish words for castle and ammonite.
