Żabnica

1,322 m peak in the Żywiec Beskids with a viewing meadow, a mountain hut and a junction of trails

Free things to do in Żabnica include the summit of Rysianka, the Cukiernica Wyżna meadow and the Lipowska nature reserve in the Żywiec Beskids.

All three places lie in the mountains, so this is a choice for people who enjoy hiking. Żabnica borders Złatna, and Rysianka lies right on the boundary between the two villages.

Where to go in Żabnica for free?

Rysianka rises to 1,322 m above sea level and is the junction of three ridges in the Żywiec-Orava Beskids. On its north-eastern slope lies Rysianka meadow with a PTTK hut and a large junction of trails. The boundary between Żabnica and Złatna runs along its ridge.

Cukiernica Wyżna is a former grazing meadow on the eastern slope of the northern ridge of Redykalny Wierch, in the Węgierska Górka municipality, now being overgrown by forest. A trail from Rajcza to Hala Boracza passes nearby. The neighbouring Cukiernica Niżna is still grazed.

The Lipowska nature reserve was established in June 2008 as the 64th reserve in the Silesian Voivodeship. It covers 62.6 ha in the Żywiec Landscape Park and protects upland raised bogs below Rysianka and Lipowski Wierch.
