Parks and nature in Cieszyn mean three reserves by the Olza and Puńcówka: Lasek Miejski, Kopce and the Puńcówka woodland with cieszynianka.

Cieszyn has nature almost in the town centre. All three reserves are deciduous woods on steep slopes, and none needs a ticket. They suit a walk in spring, when the cieszynianka blooms.

Which Cieszyn reserve is closest to the centre?

The Lasek Miejski nad Puńcówką Nature Reserve lies right by the centre, on the right bank of the Olza valley. It was created in 1961, covers 7.74 hectares and protects spring sites of the cieszynianka and natural hornbeam woodland. The Lasek Miejski nad Olzą Reserve in Błogocice, also from 1961, has a similar character, with lime, oak, hornbeam and sycamore in the stand.

What makes the Kopce reserve different?

The Kopce Nature Reserve in Marklowice, a district of Cieszyn, was set up in December 1953 and covers 14.77 hectares. Three types of forest grow here: hornbeam woods, fertile Carpathian beech forest and ash-elm riparian forest, and about 150 species of vascular plants have been counted in the undergrowth. After the walk you can add the monuments of Cieszyn or read about Castle Hill. A wider overview is the category parks and nature in Silesia.
