Churches in Skoczów: the late Baroque Church of Saints Peter and Paul, the Evangelical Holy Trinity Church and the Church of the Finding of the Holy Cross.

The three churches serve both Catholics and Lutherans of Cieszyn Silesia, and two of them are tied to the memory of St John Sarkander. They differ in age, material and scale.

Which church in Skoczów to start with?

The Church of Saints Peter and Paul at Wałowa 12, a three-aisled hall church with galleries, built in 1762. It is the fifth church on this spot, as the earlier ones burned down in 1470, 1531, 1713 and 1756. Bishop Filip Gotthard Schaffgotsch consecrated it in 1767.

How do the other two differ?

The Holy Trinity Church at Kossak-Szatkowskiej 74 is a brick Lutheran church from 1863-1865, designed by the Viennese architect Horky. The Church of the Finding of the Holy Cross, known as the "szpitalik", grew out of a hospital chapel from the 14th century and is about 18 metres long.
