a flooded sand pit from the 1970s in an ecological site, with a colony of black-headed gulls and reed beds

Scenic views in Dąbrowa Górnicza come from the Pogoria II and Kuźnica Warężyńska reservoirs and the long Metallurgists' Trail over Gołonóg Hill.

Two lakes and one trail show another side of the town than steelworks and mines: water, reeds and a view from a hill. It suits a walk with a camera.

Where in Dąbrowa Górnicza can you see water and birds?

Pogoria II came into being in 1976-1978 in a flooded sand pit. Today an ecological site of 40 ha protects it, and gulls of the black-headed kind breed along its banks. It is a place for calm walks and angling.

Kuźnica Warężyńska Reservoir, popularly Pogoria IV, is the largest of the three bodies of water at 560 ha; water filled the old sand-quarry hollow in 2005. The main beach adjoins Wojkowice Kościelne, and part of the lake belongs to the Siewierz municipality.

Which way to a view from a hill?

The Metallurgists' Trail is a marked footpath of 18.2 km; it joins Dąbrowa Górnicza with southern Sosnowiec via Gołonóg Hill. Hikers may cover it entirely or just the first stretch.
