Skiing in Szczyrk means five places: the Czyrna-Solisko, COS OPO, Beskid Sport Arena and Biały Krzyż slopes plus the year-round Skalite ski jump complex.
Szczyrk is a town in the Silesian Beskids with several ski resorts. The choice covers large slopes with lifts, a tiny learners' slope and jumps to watch.
Where to ski in Szczyrk?
For long runs pick Czyrna-Solisko or the COS OPO resort. For shorter runs and smaller queues head to Beskid Sport Arena, and with children or for first steps to Biały Krzyż.
Szczyrk Mountain Resort, that is Czyrna-Solisko, lies on the northern side of Mały Skrzyczne (1,211 m above sea level). It has about 25 km of runs of varying difficulty, a gondola and chairlifts. The toughest black and red runs are Bieńkula and Golgota. The resort also operates as a cycling centre.
The second big resort, run by the Central Sports Centre, spreads across the north face of Skrzyczne (1,257 m). Lifts are three chairlifts and a button lift; there are 12.5 km of downhill runs and cross-country trails. The Skrzyczne lift is built in two stages: first to Hala Jaworzyna, then on to the summit.
Which slope in Szczyrk to choose for a start or with the family?
Biały Krzyż is a small slope with two drag lifts, about 300 and 200 metres long, groomed, lit and snow-made. It lies on Grabowa street near the Salmopol pass, and the run is gentle and wide. Beskid Sport Arena in Szczyrk-Biła offers four runs, two button lifts and a 750 m detachable six-seater chairlift called “Beskid”; by its own account it is smaller than the other slopes in town.
If in Szczyrk you would rather watch sport than ski, go to the Skalite ski jumps. The hills sit on the north slope of Skalite, 620 m up, in a complex of three (K95, K70 and K40) with stands for 1,472 spectators. It is managed by the Olympic Preparation unit of the Central Sports Centre and is open all year. Since 2018 the name has honoured Beskid Olympians. More about the history of the town is in a text on how Szczyrk became a ski resort, and other slopes of the region are covered by an overview of slopes and ski jumps.
