Churches and monasteries in Blachownia: the churches of St Francis of Assisi, of the Most Holy Saviour, and of Our Lady Queen of Poland and St Michael.
Three parish churches: two from the closing decades of the twentieth century and one from 1924-1927. For visitors who sightsee alone and compare architecture from different decades.
The oldest is the Church of Our Lady Queen of Poland and St Michael the Archangel on Sienkiewicza Street, a brick church from 1924-1927 with a single tower topped by a dome and a cross. Its high altar was donated by workers.
The other two are later. St Francis of Assisi's Church took fourteen years to build: the blessing came in 1993 and the consecration in 2000. Marek Witkowski designed the Church of the Most Holy Saviour; it stands by the town cemetery in Błaszczyki and went up between 1993 and 2000. The locality itself has a page, Blachownia, and churches of nearby areas are described in churches and monasteries in Silesia.
